On Wednesday January 13, 2016 the City of New Orleans cuts the ribbon to open the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office and Emergency Medical Services facility at 3001 Earhart Blvd.
Both departments were heavily damaged and flooded after Hurricane Katrina. And both departments have been performing their duties in rented and borrowed trailers since the storm. The Coroner rented an old funeral home, while EMS lived under the Mississippi River Bridge.
For the first time in their history, both departments now have a new facility designed to meet their needs.
